Ranier Maria Rilke: Letters To A Young Poet

The Darfur Conflict

I am a young entrepreneur who loves adventure and discovery.  I have a hard time sitting still so I try to change up my schedule as much as possible to keep myself stimulated.  I moved to Georgia two years ago from my hometown of Spearfish, South Dakota.  I graduated from Spearfish High School along with about 200 other people.  It's times like that in which I'm thankful for the small population surrounding me. I couldn't imagine sitting through thousands of names, can you say comma?  I have two totally awesome brothers and an incredible mother.  My childhood is definitely one to be envied.

I was very active in athletics, in small towns it seems like you have to be.  Athletically, I participated in volleyball, soccer and track.  Because soccer was my passion I eventually put all my focus and energy into that and let go of the other extracurricular activities.  I started all four years on the varsity team and made the All State teams two years in a row.  Before my junior year in high school Uncle Sam got me and I have been in the Army National Guard ever since.  My time with the armed forces is almost up and I will not reenlist.  I am a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and spent fourteen months overseas in Iraq and Kuwait.  It was definitely a growing and learning experience that I will take with me for the rest of my life.

Why Kennesaw?  Easy, it's away from the city.  As much as I love the city of Atlanta, it can be hectic at times.  I'm from a small town and the high volume of traffic and people can be overwhelming at times.  I definitely do not need to worry about silly little things like traffic jams when I am trying to continue my education and better myself.  In other words, if I can avoid a stressful or negative situation, I will, no sweat.

I am majoring in Exercise and Health Science with a focus on nutrition and fitness.  I believe that staying fit and healthy is something that will stay with me for the rest of my life and it should concern you too.

Five years from now I plan on owning my own gym.  It will cater to families who are seeking a healthier lifestyle.
