Advertising in social networking

The internet provides us with the opportunity to connect on a global scale.  This allows us to interact with one another efficiently.  Given the opportunity to interact via satellite the world becomes much smaller when dealing with business relations.

BWD is an advertising company that can help with business relations by allowing businesses to post on social networking websites.  This would make their target audience much broader by exposing their business to at least 230,000 new viewers each day.  Our mission is to connect corporate America with an array of potential clients. BWD has the resources to connect you to effective advertising locations thru social networking websites.

Social networking websites have the power to interact and persuade a large demographic of people.  An example of this power is political campaigning on sites such as Myspace and Facebook.  The new political arm of Myspace is called Myspace Impact.  One of the main features will be Myspace pages for each presidential candidate in the 2008 campaign, according to associatedcontent.com

Social networking is the use of a website to connect with people who share personal or professional interests, place of origin, education at a certain school, etc.  Social networking is solving problems of business and relationships.  The three sites chosen were Facebook, Myspace, and Classmates.  It has been found that individuals have better luck finding dates or business contacts through friends or through a friend of their friend.  The fact that sites like Myspace give you a chance to show your personality allows others to connect with you pertaining to the similarities.

Social networking is made for all types of people of all ages.  Sites like Facebook are made for mostly college students and every day, more high school students.  Myspace administers to all ages above 13.  Celebrities use it to promote new movies, songs, etc. for everyone to see to gain support.  Adults use it to find dates and for business purposes.  Teenagers use this website for talking to their friends, competition, dating, promoting.

All of the social networking websites have been very successful.  They are all making millions of dollars everyday.  The networks get at least 20,000 people a day joining.  Users are able to get exactly what they need out of each site.  These social networking sites help users who don’t usually have a lot of friends or don’t find dates easily.  Social networking sites make this easier for us as a society to communicate.

Facebook is an English-language social networking website.  Mark Zuckerburg, a sophomore at Harvard University, created Facebook.  This site was originally created for college students, and then they eventually opened it up to the public.  As of February 2007, Facebook has the largest number of registered college students on its site with 17 million users worldwide.  Facebook has over 6 million pictures uploaded daily putting Facebook at the number one spot for the most pictures.  With this website being free for all users, it generates revenue for all aspects of advertisement including: banner ads and sponsors.  Facebook was rumored to produce over 1 million dollars per week.

The next social networking website is Myspace.  Myspace is the number one social networking site in the world.  In February, myspace received 65 million visitors from the U.S. alone.  The users of Myspace in the U.S make up around 37 percent of the Internet users in the U.S.  Myspace has entered the upcoming U.S presidential race with a new website dedicated to the presidential campaign. Analysts feel this will be an excellent way to reach millions of people who would otherwise show little interest in politics. This project is called: Myspace Impact. One of the main features will be Myspace Pages for each presidential candidate. The average age of frequent Myspace users are 18 to 24. This age group is also least likely to visit a political site. This proves the potentially enormous impact this will have on voter turn out. The CEO of Myspace Chris Dewolfe has said “Myspace hopes to play a powerful role in the 2008 elections. The site plans to give users easy-to-use information in a format they can relate to.”

The third social networking website is classmates.  Randy Conrads created Classmates.com in 1995.  He also founded Classmate Online Inc.  The Classmates website was created to help members, keep in touch with, find, and connect with acquaintances and friends.  This website can find people as far back as your kindergarten classes.  Classmates website has over 40 million members in the United States and Canada.  This particular website is free to register as a basic member.  As a basic member, you can list yourself to be found, post pictures, announcements, biographies, and read the message board.  If you want to plan events, send emails, and form private groups, you are able to do so by paying a small fee and becoming a Gold member.

Social networking websites are a way of connecting people all across the globe.  By using social networking websites BWD will be able advertise to audiences all across the world which will make advertising successful.
