Recently I was reading through a magazine when they had tips on relaxing on the weekend. One tip was to take a long bath with bath bombs in there and turn the lights off and get candles going. My boyfriend (who secretly loves girl magazines) had no idea what bath bombs were and was baffled by the term. I went on the explain to him and he just looked at me in shock, as if I had opened a whole new world for him (like when I introduced him to the loofah).
One day I was visiting him (we go to different schools) and I used his shower. I noticed that he had a wash cloth in there and later on when I was out shopping with a friend I picked him up a loofah. He was baffled. He had never heard of a loofah before let alone used one. He thought it was the greatest thing ever and I was shocked (I thought he was joking at first). It has become a joke between us but he was actually serious for about a week and called and asked questions. Like one day he asked me where you store a loofah when it's not in use or another time he asked if you were supposed to put the soap onto the loofah then rub the loofah on yourself or if you were supposed to put the soap on yourself first. I laughed so hard but he was seriously. I wish I could write an article on guys and beauty products because I definitely have some of the funniest stories to share.
It seems natural to us as women to go out and buy a loofah when ours is getting old (which I have to do for Steve) and to cut our finger nails or get them done or even to flush the toilet (yes, my brother still can't do that). But to guys it's foreign. They don't think about things like that. I'm not sure if our brains just work differently or we just care about different things but it's funny to think about me having to remind a grown man to buy a loofah (as if he would even know where to get one) or explain to him how to use it, but it happens (a lot more than you would think).
