Red Hat is a leader in open source technology. Red Hat offers different products to serve their customers needs. Red Hat focuses on server solutions and client solutions. For the server there is the Enterprise Linux AS and Enterprise Linux ES. AS works well for customers with large databases and ES works well for small business customers. For the client line Red hat offers Enterprise Linux WS and Red Hat Desktop. The WS is great for a user with a variety of high performance technical applications. The Red hat Desktop is for the general user.
To complement the Red Hat products there is also the Red hat server. Customers receive services through the network. There are also modules that allow for better function ability. The modules are provisioning, management and monitoring modules. There are also two service architecture that ease the workload of a customer. The architectures are hosted and a satellite version.
There are some IT issues that arise when switching to and open source. One problem is security. The problem is that since Red Hat is open to the public it can be easier for programs to have holes or viruses. Also, through email people where able to send viruses to people by using a supposed Red Hat email address. These are some of the security problem that have come up with Red Hat.
Another issue with Red Hat is that is not compatible with many software programs because they only work with Windows or Apple. Programs like Microsoft Office is one of the programs that is mentioned often because it is used so frequently. The reason Microsoft Office does not work well with an open source system is because Microsoft is only supposed to work with Windows.
There are ways to solve these IT problems that come up when using Red Hat. In relation to security, Red Hat has tightened their security before selling any products. Also before downloading anything Red Hat has authentication codes as well as security keys to let customers know that they are licensed products. Also Red Hat has set up a mailing list to let their customers know of possible threats to their computers. These are all ways Red Hat has increased security for their systems.
To solve the issue of software compatibility especially in terms of programs like Microsoft Office. There are a few different solutions like StarOffice which is produced by Sun Microsystems. Also there is WordPerfect Office produced by Corel. One other option is Applixware by VistaSource. All these programs have great word processing programs, spreadsheet programs and other comparable programs that Microsoft Office offers. These are all solutions to software compatibility.

Bio
I am Robert Witt, I was born in Atlanta on November 27,1985 at Piedmont Hospital. When I was two my family moved to Houston, Texas. I lived there for 7 years before moving back to Atlanta and my family and I live in Marietta.
I went to Walton High School. While I was there I played a few different sports. I was on the basketball team for 2 years, I ran cross country for 3 years and I was a starter in lacrosse for 4 years. After high school I got recruited to play lacrosse at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. There lacrosse team is top 5 team in Division III. I was fortunate to play there for a year and a half before deciding to return to Atlanta and go to Kennesaw State University.
Team Job: Webmaster
As the Webmaster I created the style of the team website. I created the background as well as finding the Ferrari symbol that is used on our site. Also I created the look for the look for our title.
My job also included for the main page what we did our research on. Since we did Red Hat I wrote the information about the company, the IT/IS problems that Red Hat has and some of the solutions that available to the public.
