Personal Statement:

Welcome. I am a mother of a wonderful toddler, a nursing student, and so much more. In my spare time, I like to take part in fashion shows and promotional modeling. I am very close to my immediate goal of becoming registered nurse. I currently work as a nursing assistant at Kennestone Hospital and I love what I do. I love interacting with the patients and I think that I make their days in the hospital a little brighter through therapeutic communication and strong patient care skills. When I begin my career as a nurse, I would like to work on a medical-surgical floor at a hospital. Once I am comfortable with the nursing process, I would like to go into women’s health with a concentration in obstetrics. My ultimate career goal is to open a continuous care birthing center where the mother is followed throughout her entire perinatal experience by a team of nurses and is always in the care of a nurse who knows her situation well.

The birthing center is just one of my ideas that I think would have a positive influence in the field of nursing. My ideas and the inspiration that comes from my son keep me focused because they are the long term goals beyond immediate grades and my impending graduations with honors. They are motivation for my entire career as a nurse. I have always been a very hard worker. I am goal oriented and having both short and long term goals gives me the drive to do whatever it takes to meet them. I enjoy learning and I am looking forward to learning and growing in my new career.

Steps Taken to Complete this Page:

In order to complete the webpage, I followed the directions as outlined in the assignment. After viewing and saving the source of the students.kennesaw.edu/~eleeds page, my first step was to analyze the code. I found the codes for the title, background color, picture and font but I had not idea how to change them. I went to the webpage given as help and some other web pages to find the correct codes for the font. At school, I used the Dreamweaver software to help with changing the picture and the background color. Dreamweaver helped because although I used the codes to make the changes, I could see that I was performing the steps correctly as I went along. Next, I concentrated on changing the links. I found the external links to be very straightforward: find the “a href=” and replace the current link by copying the link you want and pasting it in place. The external links were a little more difficult because I first had to add a hyperlink to my resumes that led back to my webpage. Then, I manually entered the name of the link making sure that it was an exact match to the link that I would transfer to Secure Shell FTP software. Lastly, I wrote my biography and copied it to the source code in the appropriate place.

Before, I wrote this narrative of my process I wanteds to make sure that I was on the right track by publishing and viewing the page. After downloading Secure Shell FTP software and connecting, I opened my BISM folder on the left and the html folder on the right. I had to drag the index page from the left to the right, but I already had an index page there from the Dreamweaver class that I took. I replaced everything. After that, I had to drag all of the appropriate files: my resumes with return links and my picture. I opened the webpage. I did it! Everything I wanted to be there was there, but the Nurses Association link did not work. I went back to the source code, fixed the link, and republished. The last and final step was to write this narrative, copy and paste it into the code being sure to separate the paragraphs, save and publish for the last time. It took a little trial and error but I hope you like my BISM student webpage.
