Organizational Skills As a LINK participant, I challenged myself to develop a meaningful service experience for the organization. I organized and promoted a service-learning project to Mississippi to help with victims of hurricane Katrina. I placed over thirty phone calls to arrange for service opportunities, transportation, housing, and meals for twenty-five participants. Results: · Organized individual teams and assisted in the construction of 3 homes. Recognized by leadership coordinator for leadership and organizational skills. Verbal Communication Skills While working as a peer mentor in a freshman orientation class, I was asked to serve as a bridge between the professor and students. I helped organize class presentations and advised students on majors, registration, and a range of personal issues. Results: · 95% of students stated that I was a valuable asset to the course and provided excellent advice. · 92% of students rated my assistance as “extremely beneficial.” Commended by professor for admirable accomplishments. Written Communication/Creativity Skills While working on a group project in a Marketing class, I was challenged to take the leadership role in the development of a marketing plan. Results: Exceeded project requirements by developing a logo, slogan, floor plan, and survey in addition to a SWOT analysis and promotional plan. Work Ethic and Goal Orientation In addition to taking at least five classes a semester, I worked part time during the school year and full time each summer in order to support myself throughout the year. While working, I also participated in organizations and community service. Results: · Received 3 Merit Scholarships · Quadrupled savings in 3 years Maintained a 3.7 GPA Technical Aptitude MS Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Movie Maker or Imovie.
