Who is Misty?

For starters, I am a full time mother of two, full time career woman, full time student, and full time wife. If only there were more of me I would be all set. My number one goal in life is to provide a good home for my family. My kids are the inspiration that keeps me going. I work hard in everything I do for them.

My other interests include everything to do with water. I love swimming, oceans, and relaxing on the beach. My plan is that one day I would be able to live on the waterfront in southern California.

I also consider myself to be developing spiritually. I’m just trying to find my way and what my purpose is in this life. Generally I like to consider myself a realist with a positive outlook on the future. Rather than acting in a brash or abrupt manner I typically prefer to consider all of my options before making any important decisions. That’s just me.

My Professional Biography:

I’ve always had great leadership skills. I’m very organized in the professional world, and I get things done in a timely manner. Communication is no obstacle for me. I’m very open with what’s on my mind and at the same time I recognize opportunities when they present themselves and express my opinions accordingly.

At times I may be considered a perfectionist and my greatest challenge is knowing my capacity for work and curbing my impulses to take on too much at once. My current focus is on time management and understanding when to say “enough.”

My greatest contribution to our team will be my ability to see the big picture and convey that message to our audience. As presentation coordinator my greatest challenge is to bring the group together in one sit down while in the midst of everyone’s hectic schedules. Alas, such is life!

Webpage Work Breakdown:

I began by using Professor Mayani’s webpage as the base upon which to build my webpage. I saved her page onto my local machine and re-opened it in Microsoft word. I found that Word was much easier to use than Notepad.

The group decided that we all wanted similar color schemes and we chose red, white, and blue. I hyper linked two websites that were used in my portion of the formal report for Podcasting in Business and Podcasting in Current Issues. I then internally linked the groups operating agreement to my webpage. I also linked each member’s webpage to my own by using the “a ref” command and adding in each individual’s user name.

I added a picture of my son and I with the “insert picture” command from a file on my local computer. I had to resize the picture to fit into the correct spot on my webpage.

Once I was finished with all of the formatting and writing I then created a folder with all of the internal files used on my page so that when I uploaded the documents there would be no confusion as to which files I used on the page.

I downloaded the FTP (File Transfer Protocol), provided by the professor, and began the uploading process. I had to “quick connect” and enter all of my information to get live onto the space the school provides for each student. I then went into the left side of the screen, which has all of my local drives, and went into the folder created for the webpage. I “selected all” and “uploaded” into the html file on the right side of the screen. I then “refreshed” and opened my webpage to make sure it was working properly.

If I ever needed to change anything in the word document, I would “save”, “refresh,” and re-upload into the html file so the webpage would update on the school’s site. At the beginning of the process I found it to be a bit difficult to change the settings, so I am thankful that our team’s webpage coordinator, Jesse, mentored me and helped me start the process!
