My name is Metaksya Karagezyan. I was born in 1984 in the country of Armenia (former USSR). In 2000 I moved to Nizhniy Novgorod city of Russia with my entire family. In 2002 I graduated high school in Nizhniy Novgorod. In the same year I entered Nizhniy Novgorod State University, majoring in International Affairs. In 2005 I participated in a student exchange program and obtained a chance to come to the US and live in an American family for 1 year. In 2006 I entered Kennesaw State University as an international student, continuing my major in International Affairs. I will be graduating in Fall 2009. I am married and have a 1 year old daughter. My goal at this point in my life is to achieve a status in the field of diplomacy that will enable me to be useful for my country of Armenia.
My professional background started with my job in a translating company in Russia where I worked as a specialist in Armenian-Russian translations. Though I knew the languages relatively well but the job helped
me to utilize the details of two languages. I also speak English, and one of the main reasons of my visit to the US was to improve my language skills in English. In the US I have participated in a cultural
exchange program, living in an American family where we were exchanging our knowledge and experiences about our countries. Thus, I speak three languages, I have lived in three different countries, I have experienced
three rather different educational systems, and three diverse traditional environments. The experience of living in different societies has helped me to develop an ability to communicate across ethnic lines. It has
also contributed to the formation of a feature of adaptability along with the maintenance of my national and cultural identity. Studying in Armenia and Russia, I have been involved in numerous social activities as an honor student: I have been a member of Armenian community in
Nizhniy Novgorod, being involved in almost every initiative of the society. Though I am an honor student at Kennesaw State University, I am not able to take part in many social initiatives because I am a full-time mother.
However, I possess leadership skills that can be useful in any team work.
My role in the Team 15 is a Research Coordinator because I am well versed in Internet and library database searches. As I am familiar with APA style, it also qualifies me to take the role of the Research Coordinator
because the latter is responsible for checking the authenticity of the final report as well, including appropriate attributions, citations and references. Another reason for taking this role is because of my characteristic
to pay attention to details which is very important to carry out the research part of the project optimally.
