My name is Maya Caffey. I am a student at Kennesaw University studying accounting. It seems as if I have been in school my entire life as I have been juggling being a single parent as well as working at two jobs. I once hoped that I would graduate from college before my children graduated from high school. Well, that opportunity has come and gone for all three of my children. So, then I hoped that I would graduate college before my kids graduated from college. Well, that deadline is coming to a quick end as my oldest daughter will be graduating from college May of 2007. So, I hang on to my sense of humor and continue to forge on toward one day…graduating from college.

I have been employed for 12 years as an operations manager for a leading national building products distribution company. My experience as an operations manager has been a challenging one however I have realized a tremendous professional growth. I have held numerous supervising and managing positions which have afforded me the opportunity to create many wonderful personal and professional relationships. As well, these various positions continue to expose me to many facades of the business which strengthens my business acumen.

My role within the Socialites groups has been very rewarding. I took the initiative to request each member to sign up for a group assignment and I emailed contact information and availability time for each member. I volunteered to write the introduction of the formal paper, edit and combine all works into a complete formal paper.

This BISM group experience has been rewarding for me. I consider myself to be computer challenged therefore this project forced me to go into a world that I am intimidated by. I think at this point I have to exercise some patience with myself and devote time to the world of computers!!
