The Equal Pay Act was established in 1963 by the United States Government to ensure employees' pay was not discriminated against in regards to race, sex, color, creed or sexual orientation.  Companies are expected to comply with the regulation and can be audited at any time to confirm their compliance.

EquiPay, a computer software designed by Berkshire Associates, Inc., works to ensure the company is fully aware of all Equal Pay Act standards.  EquiPay has five different analysis systems that work to provide Human Resource professionals with detailed information on all aspects of their company's payroll.  This includes employee information, demographics, and salary history.  Most importantly, EquiPay serves to prevent any potential pay equity issues that could have a negative impact on the company.

Problem

Following the establishment of the Equal Pay Act, companies are faced with the tedius task of analyzing employee data to identify potential pay equity problems.  For larger organizations, traditional means of analyzing data was not effective or efficient.  Due to common human error, issues could be overlooked or completely misanalyzed.

As a result of the size and complexity of the task, compensation analysis was not performed as frequently as necessary and thus the number of pay equity issues increased.  The time taken to resolve these issues had a negative impact as other compensation issues were delayed in their resolution.

Solution

EquiPay Software provides a solution that improves the efficiency and accuracy of the data analysis.  It also includes a program called the Census Reporter that allows companies to use information from the U.S. Bureau of Census for data.  Access to this information aids companies that use many different geographical data and also allows them to customize their recruitment data to help determine affirmative action plans.

EquiPay also offers a tool for employers to validate salary offers, support pay increases and to ensure salary is based on the appropriate criteria.  The EquiPay system creates different forms on analysis and reports for Human Resources professionals.  The different types of analysis offered by EquiPay are Exploratory Analysis, Explanatory Analysis, Cohort Analysis, Potential Liability Analysis, and Compliance Reports.
