Georgia State Route 99
Back to Georgia Highway Ends

Originally extending all the way to Alma, where SR 99 ends today is by no means the original terminus of this route, once an east-west route forming a hook touching down 16 miles west of Brunswick.  Thus, the claim that SR 57 is a "Scenic Shortcut to the Coast" is no tribute to history considering that SR 57 originally came to an end in Cobbtown southwest of Metter. Nevertheless, what was once a relatively significant route, SR 99, is now merely a secondary highway holding closeby to the coast though an interesting one nonetheless.

Southern Terminus: US 82/SR 520 in a remote area sixteen miles west of Brunswick



SR 99 and SR 57 end into each other in Eulonia, so these are the same signs here back to back.   The SR 99 end on the shorter post can be seen from the rear on the photo below.
