Georgia State Route 57
Back to Georgia Highway Ends

A route dubbed as the "Scenic Shortcut to the Coast" is pretty funny considering that the route did not even get anywhere near the coast until the early 1980's when GDOT went berserk and changed around all the routes anyway.  In fact, SR 99 covered the present day eastermost portion of SR 57 up until then with SR 57 ending quite a ways from the ending shown below.  This ending was located in Cobbtown, where the route presently joins SR 23/121 southwest of Metter.  Nevertheless, there seems to be a strong desire to market this route as it as also named the "Wiregrass Trail".

This is also the northern end of SR 99.
