Georgia State Route 5

Banner Routes (Page forthcoming)

SR 5 goes from minor to major the further north and east it goes.  Beginning unceremoniously at the Alabama border, the route picks up steam and traffic as it moves towards Marietta.  From there, the route becomes an interstate and continues a very busy and scenic course to the Tennessee border.

Northern Terminus: Tennessee State Line in McCaysville (intersection of TN 68 and GA 60)

Here is a zoomed in shot of the photo below.  This is where GA 5 meets GA 60 and TN 68 in McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN.  This is also where GA 60 ends.  Note the faded "GA | TN" sign on the building in the background.

This intersection is a unique situation where the state line is at the intersection of three routes.  For many years, the original triangle TN 68 markers were here until they were finally replaced very recently.
