Georgia State Route 303
Back to Georgia Highway Ends

SR 303, which runs along the north side of Brunswick, may have been best described as the "Coastal Cutoff" or "Brunswick By-Pass".  However, the road diminished greatly in importance when I-95 was completed in the area in the late 1970's.  To read more about SR 303, click here.

Western Terminus: Intersection of US 17/SR 25 and US 82/SR 520 west of Brunswick

Compare this above photo with the one below taken in 1973 by Michael Summa.

Note several significant changes.  (1) No Citgo station on the right corner, (2) US 82 is US 84, (3) the "TO I-95" sign: this was needed when I-95 was not yet completed in the area, (4) the LWS (note: black on white) sign on the right reading "Jekyll Island", which has since been removed and (5) US 82 is now four lanes.  Also not pictured in either shot is that US 84, then SR 50 is now SR 520.
