Georgia State Route 288 (Sunnyside Road)
Back to Georgia Highway Ends

A route situated in a very unique setting, SR 288 winds around Lake Chatuge south of Hiawassee and travels near the foot of Brasstown Bald Mountain, the states highest peak.  As a quasi-bypass of Hiawassee, the route helps to relieve congestion around Hiawassee, especially during the North Georgia Fair every August.  To read more about SR 288, click here.

No, that isn't a little street turning off to the right in tribute to poached eggs.  Nope, SR 288 is Sunnyside Road.  Don't bother asking locals where SR 288 is.  To them, it's "Sunnyside" and that's it.

Four routes for the price of one!

The first reassurance marker looking west.  The advance street name sign in the background is for Fodder Creek Road.
