Georgia State Route 21
Back to Georgia Highway Ends
Banner Routes: GA 21 By-Pass (Springfield), GA 21 Spur, GA 21 Business (Sylvania)

As the highway of the Savannah River, SR 21 as one of the state's oldest highways connects Georgia's oldest cities: Savannah and Augusta.  SR 21 is also the route of the Savannah River Parkway.  As work progresses on this Parkway, will the route survive?  As the completed route will be designated SR 565, it is wondered if the projected 2007 completion date will spell the end of the route as SR 21.

Georgia State Route 21 By-Pass (Springfield)

Mysteriously missing from the Georgia DOT maps, SR 21 By-Pass is alive and well around the county seat of Effingham County.  In this strange scenario, SR 21 through Springfield is not only alive and well, but also sans a "Business" banner.  As it is not the only quirk in the highway system regarding undocumented highways, it is an interesting route that saw its first through traffic in 1998.

Georgia State Route 21 Spur

A road of industry and the economic good of Georgia, SR 21 Spur brings goods from the Georgia Ports Authority to the rest of the state and beyond.

Georgia State Route 21 Business (Sylvania)

This old alignment of SR 21 through the county seat of Screven County is the only business route of SR 21 since Springfield kept mainline SR 21 going through their downtown.
