Georgia State Route 204
Back to Georgia Highway Ends
Banner Route: GA 204 Spur

A route serving as the major commercial corridor and east-west route in Savannah other than I-16, SR 204 (better known as Abercorn Street) is home to all of Savannah's progress including both of its malls.  SR 204 Spur is no different as it connects fast growing and exclusive Skidaway Island.  SR 204 also has interchanges with three of Savannah's major freeways: I-95, I-16 and the Southwest Bypass (Veterans Parkway).  I-516 also ends a short distance from SR 204.

Western Terminus: US 280/SR 30 in Lanier east of Pembroke

From here, it's 20 miles to I-95, though it really doesn't seem like it.  The LGS reads "Richmond Hill 25, Savannah 33".  Behind that, the road is signed as the J.O. Bacon Highway with a GDOT logo on it assuming this is a GDOT employee the road is dedicated to.

This is the next to final exit of I-16, where I-16 touches down to Montgomery Street

SR 204 Spur was added to the system in the 1990's and includes three different county roads on its course to Skidaway Island including Montgomery Cross Road, Whitfield Avenue and Diamond Causeway before ending at Green Island Road.

Southern Terminus: Green Island Road on Skidaway Island

This blurry shot of SR 204 Spur's southern end is right after crossing onto Skidaway Island.  A gated community is just ahead.
