Rounded Rectangle: A management information system is a process that provides information necessary to manage an organization effectively. Management information systems and the information it generates are generally considered essential components of prudent and reasonable business decisions. All management information systems should be designed to achieve the following goals: enhance communication among employees, deliver complex material throughout the institution, provide an objective system for recording and aggregating information, reduce expenses related to labor-intensive manual activities, and support the organization’s strategic goals and direction. It is important for businesses to sustain a constant approach to the development, use, and review of their management information system. For a functional management information system it must be: timely, accurate, consistent, complete, and relevant.
Professional Visual Consultants believes information security is extremely important. Organizations as well as individuals must protect information and networks from unauthorized access, use, modification, destruction, disruption or disclosure. PVC provides strong advice on how to keep the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of an organization's or individual's data regardless if the data is electronic, printed or any other
form.
With the information age in full swing, there has been a resurgence of awareness in managing privacy. Citizens and corporations alike have become increasingly concerned about threats to their private information; i.e. databases, bank account numbers, corporate secrets, and so on. In direct response, the media has followed public opinion by providing more information on privacy issues and governmental regulation of corporate privacy. All developed and developing countries are struggling with the trade-off between open access to information; or protecting individual/ corporate privacy. Consistent with these trade-offs, many recent incidents suggest that regulatory approaches to information privacy, corporate management of personal data, and consumer reactions are becoming tightly interwoven around the world. In general, every country is taking a unique approach in handling the ongoing problem based largely on cultural beliefs and government structure. Moreover, if the public losses faith in particular corporations to effectively manage issues involving privacy they may look for the government aid. In reaction, citizens may turn to lawmakers to empower the public with stricter privacy regulations to put their concerns at-ease.
In addition to maintaining information privacy and security, another important aspect to information systems is information accuracy. Many corporations and small businesses have tendencies to complicate procedure by adding extra steps through inconsistent data. Keeping information to a standard and creating a stable system of accuracy allows groups to stay away from errors they may encounter. Creating an order of governance provides greater data quality, thus achieving a more efficient business network.
Information access is an area ensuring access to information which concerns many arenas such as copyright, open source, privacy, and security. This has greatly impacted the business world and individuals. Businesses have security restricting who can access information regarding the operations of that particular business within their organization and the general public. Many individuals restrict who can access their personal information. The controversial patriot act has led to restrictions on access to certain information as well as increased government attempts at surveillance of individual’s private information.
