Research Topic: 2 Pod Squad's objective is to analyze the affect that podcasting has on higher education. We began by familiarizing ourselves with the definition of podcasting and examining the history. We then investigated the type of technology used in podcasting, and familiarized ourselves with the process itself. The 2 Pod Squad then expanded the scope of interest to understand how podcasting has become integrated into higher education.
In doing the research we were able to see the different styles in which podcasting is used. There are numerous ways that this readily available technology can be used on an individual basis. This extended our research, because we observed the multiple styles of podcasting and how an individual would utilize each type. Through these observations and research the 2 Pod Squad was able to further our understanding of podcasting and its affect on higher education.
Research Findings: In our research findings we were able to find out exactly what podcasting is. Podcasting is a digital media file distributed to ipods, over the internet, as well as many other portable media devices. Podcasting enables consumers to listen to media at their convenience whenever they choose. The evolution of podcasting began with former MTV VJ, Adam Curry who created an applescript that automated the process of downloading and syncing media files to ipods. Podcasting is becoming increasingly popular because people are now able to broadcast themselves and their interests without having to go through major network services.
Podcasting has also become popular in the school systems; many educators are already incorporating podcasting into their curriculums with great results. Through podcasting, educators are able to use music and recorded audio to enhance learning with photos to address a wider variety of learning styles. In addition, podcasting is becoming an asset in small and large businesses alike because it can be used as a strong marketing tool. Technology as we know is everchanging and as podcasting develops, so too will its uses. With their new freedom, podcasters (people who transmit these digital files) can reach exponentially larger audiences with great ease and these consumers are then enlightened with the ability to listen at their own convenience on demand.
About Our Team: The 2 Pod Squad members are experts in all areas of podcasting. Our areas of expertise include history, education, technology, and environmental issues. While we are a fairly new company we are experienced enough in the field to handle any level of clientele.
