Corey Talbert - Project Manager

My name is Corey James Talbert. I was born on May 27, 1987 in Warner Robins, Georgia where I lived until I moved to Kennesaw for college. I graduated from Stratford Academy in Macon, Georgia in 2005. I am currently a sophomore here at Kennesaw State University and plan to major in some aspect of Business, most likely to be Professional Sales and/or Management. Once I obtain my degree I hope to go into sales/sales management.

Throughout my lifetime my spare time has mostly consisted of sports. I’ve played basketball, football, soccer, but mostly baseball. Currently, I am in sales at Best Buy in Kennesaw. I work in two departments part-time and sell anything from cell phones and mp3 players to car audio and navigation systems. Besides school, work, and sports, I also enjoy going to concerts around the Atlanta area and hanging out with friends.

My role for our team is to act as project manager. My main focus is communicating with the group and setting guidelines. The primary document that I wrote as project manager was the operating agreement for our group. This document goes into detail about our purpose as a team, our research topic, decision making, meetings, and a preliminary schedule of upcoming projects and tells of who is doing what part of the project. Aside from project manager, I still take part and contribute to each project like any other member of the group.

I chose to be project manager for a number of reasons. I believe there are many qualities that I possess that make me a qualified leader. I enjoy taking leadership positions and taking on responsibility on behalf of others because I believe that I will do a good job because of the input that I get from my team. I don’t think that you can be a good leader without having the opinions of your team expressed and implemented. Also, I have a leadership position at Best Buy within my department because of my experience, knowledge, and leadership qualities. It’s been fun working with my team because we all get along and at the same time we can get things accomplished.
