Hello, my name is Bridget Samples. I am a twenty year old, Kennesaw State University junior. I have the most adorable puppy named Jake, but he lives with my mom at her house.I enjoy all types of sports including baseball, basketball, football and hockey. I also enjoy working out and staying in shape. In the future, I want to graduate the bachelors program in four years and go on to get my masters degree. I plan on going into International Business, possibly in the marketing field. I am hoping to have a career in a corporate position with a very credible firm. My dream has always been to have a corner office with a view in a skyscraper downtown. I would love to travel around the world on business before I settle down with family plans. I plan on going further with my education when I get my career off the ground later on in life.
I think this class will help me with my career plans as far as presentations go for possible marketing clients in a corporate job. I also think that all of the website items would be a great addition to a resume and list of things that I am capable of doing. Also, the group project that we completed will make group planning in the corporate world a lot easier, since individual projects in the business relm can sometimes be few and far between.
My skills include all Microsoft Office 2007 programs, including Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and Outlook for emailing. I am also very profcient with Internet Explorer and most basic computer programs. For my job, I also use Quickbooks as an accoutning system for the office bookkeeping. I bring a great variety of skills to my team including the Office 2007 skills, as well as internet navigations. I also have great editing skills for editing papers, presentations, and speechs for grammer and spelling. I also have great leadership skills to help keep people on track with the tasks at hand. I tend to be the person who delegates the role that each team member will have in a group setting.
Narrative for Interview: Employer: " What skills do you possess that would benefit our firm?" Me: I posses all the skills that a business person should have in the professional world. I am proficeint in Microsoft Office 2007, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook for emails. I am capable of typing up documents and business letters in correct format for business letters using Microsoft Word. Making spreadsheets to hold data for a company using Excel is something that I enjoy doing and I can use the correct formulas to calculate sales totals and total costs just to name a few things that are possible. PowerPoint is great for making business presentations easier for conference rooms or large crowds. Making presentations using PowerPoint is also something that I enjoy doing and am good at. I can make flyers, brochures, calendars, and business cards using Publisher, with each of those items being fully customized for the person or situation at hand. Microsoft Outlook is the email program that I am most familiar with. I am also very good with most internet navigation programs, including Internet Explorer and Mozilla FireFox. Navigating to other web pages and saving pages as bookmarks is something that I do on a normal basis and sometimes on a daily basis.
For modifying the already exisiting website, the first step was to open the existing site and save it to my PC in order to open it in a modifying program. After saving the preexisting website, opening the modifiying program is the next step. Notebook is the program of choice for this project. Once the program is open, the website file has to be opened into the program. The first step of actually modifying the site is to change the name at the top of the page to corrispond with the person or occasion at hand. For this particular website, I used myself and my own personal information for this. After changing the title or name on the page, the next step is to change the background color to the desired color. In order to do this, you must find the "background-color" text in the HTML code. Once that line has been found, it's as simple as typing in the color name to whatever colored you would like.
Next, adding a picture to the top of the page is needed. To add a picture to the page all you have to do is save a picture on the harddrive of the computer under a particular file name. Once that is done, you have to go into the HTML code and type in the file name of the picture and include ".jpeg" and the end of the file name in order for the picture to insert. There is also a table on the page that needed to be changed in order to make it different from the original page. In order to do this, it's as simple as change the two numbers that associate with the table width and height in the coding. For adding external links, that will allow a visitor of the website to travel away from the page to view additional information about the topic, all you have to do is copy and paste the links directly into the code and make sure that the headings allow the links to be a different color so that a person can see that they can click on these links. An internal link is also included. An internal link is simply information that is included on the website but includes a link to transfer a visitor back to the top of the page. Informational paragraphs are at the bottom of the page. In order to fill in paragraph information, level three headings are needed in order to show what the information is about. After the headings are made, the paragraph symbol is needed and the information can be typed directly into the code followed by another paragraph symbol to signifying the closing of a topic.
