LINK
Leaders In Kennesaw
LINK is a multi-tiered student leadership development program offered by the Student Life Center at Kennesaw State University. Endorsed by the RTM Institute for Leadership, Ethics, and Character (ILEC), LINK is an educational and experiential program designed to develop ethical leadership skills and knowledge, promote student success, and enhance the holistic development of students. Hallmarks of LINK are service leadership projects, an electronic portfolio, and competency-based assessment (by self and others) of skill and knowledge application. Students in LINK progress through 3 phases of leadership development. LINK- Emerge, LINK- Ascend and LINK- Leads:
LINK- Emerge
Emerge is the first phase of the LINK leadership journey. Students who are accepted to the LINK program in this phase are introduced to the concept of ethical leadership and to the notion that every individual has the potential to lead. Members examine their own personal values and character and begin to develop their leadership skills.
LINK- Ascend
LINK members involved in this phase of the program will explore theoretical concepts associated with leadership development and ethics and will continue to develop their own leadership skills. This group spends a significant amount of time on campus and in the community immersed in leadership experiences. The LINK program provides practical application in this phase to ensure that members are practicing the skills they are learning.
LINK- Leads
LINK members in this phase have been well trained on various leadership concepts and have focused a great deal on continually developing their leadership skills. These individuals seek more intense experiential opportunities and deeper theoretical discussions about leadership beliefs and practices in order to enhance their own development and to assist others. Most importantly during this phase of the program, students will come to understand how they interact with the world around them and how they as individuals have the ability to affect and create positive social change. Specific focus areas for experienced leaders will be around concepts of strategic change, social justice, and complex ethical dilemmas. Upon completion of the 3-tiered program, students will be awarded a Certificate in Ethical leadership.
The mission of this organization is to serve the needs of students interested in careers in technology, especially providing mentorship for women who are currently under-represented in this field. Our aim is to establish an organization where meetings can be held, ideas can be exchanged freely, knowledge can be shared and networking can be performed. It is our goal to bring success to our members by sharing valuable information, and building meaningful relationships. We hope to achieve this through forums, guest speakers, socialization, mentoring programs, as well as our monthly bulletin board and newsletter.
