Every year, the dance team hosts prep-clinics for future tryouts and junior clinics. The Junior Clinic program gives the Rhythm a chance to interact with young dancers between the ages of 6-13 and joins them with others of the same age to learn dances and techniques for perfecting their dance repoirtore. Usually held as an all day event, all of the dancers then perform what they learned at a KSU basketball game!
The Prep Clinic Program allows the students of KSU to come and "get a feel" of exactly what the Rhythm does. The clinic entails a sideline, a 2-3 count of eight routine which is usually performed by the pep band in which the dancers take to the court and dance to. They also teach a jazz and/or hip-hop routine which is the half-time performance of a soccer or womens/mens basketball game. Then they also teach technical elements such as turns along with jumps and motions. Basically, it gives the person an idea of how the dance team works and prepares them for an actual audition if they so choose to come.
A lot of responsibility comes along with being a member of the team. On top of games, performances and appearances are also a requirement in order to keep the Rhythm name out there! Keep dancing!
