David J. Albert
Introductory Narrative

Welcome to my honors portfolio website. My name is David Albert and I invite you to view a presentation designed to display and archive my journey through Kennesaw State University’s undergraduate honors program.

Participating in the honors program offered a unique opportunity to take classes beyond the mainstream curriculum, interact with highly motivated academic mentors and students, and establish a degree of distinction between myself and other graduates in the increasingly competitive marketplace.

Between the completion of an honors contract in the fall of 2004 and the conclusion of the honors capstone experience in the summer of 2006, I completed coursework, research projects, and practical experience applications all under the careful supervision of proactive and conscientious advisors.

Dr. Gary Selden, whose biographical information is available through the link provided below, has played a pivotal role as my honors academic advisor. Dr. Selden’s practical experience combined with extraordinary academic achievement made him one of the most approachable scholars I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dr. Selden provided a wealth of short-term resources while maintaining an emphasis on long-term strategic goals. Dr. Selden is the kind of person everyone wishes they had as an advocate for their cause and I am grateful for his contributions to mine.

Dr. Liza Davis, whose biographical information is likewise available through a provided link below, was an invaluable ally in her position as Director of the Honors Program. Dr. Davis is far more than an outstanding administrator and counselor; she is a zealot for excellence. Every choice, option, or alternative that could have been pondered during the process of completing the honors curriculum, saw Dr. Davis promoting the highest possible quality response.

Academic distinction, additional marketability, and extraordinary experiences are what initially drew me to the honors program, but it was the stellar ethics, personality, and accomplishment of individuals like Dr. Davis and Dr. Selden that provided the inspiration to remain.

When I was a young boy, my grandfather lectured to me, “anything worth doing is worth doing well.” I hope that in reviewing the material in this portfolio you are able to capture a sense of the dedication and respect I attempted to display while pursuing the goals established by the honors program. Furthermore, I hope that you will judge that I pursued those goals “well.”
